What You'll Learn: This workshop covers everything you need to create archival-quality salt prints, from preparing paper through final finishing. Through pre-recorded and live demonstrations, discussion, and group critique, you'll explore: • The history of salt printing • Paper selection • Suitable negatives (digital, film or dry plates) • Chemistry preparation • Coating methods • Exposure options (UV lightbox or sunlight) • Processing workflows • Creative toning options to achieve colors ranging from warm sepia to purple-brown to terracotta • Wax finishing for image protection and depth • Working on specialty substrates including vellum Workshop Format: Three 2-hour sessions will combine instruction, demonstration, and discussion. Each session will be recorded and available for several months, allowing you to revisit techniques as you practice. You'll have opportunities to share your prints and learn from the group's collective experience. Basic familiarity with digital image editing (Photoshop) is helpful but not required. Materials: A detailed materials list will be provided upon registration.
